Most Kansas Residents will receive their new Real ID when their driver's license is required to be renewed.  Those whose license does not expire until after October 2021* will be notified of when to obtain the new Real ID (as long as contact information is up to date with KS Dept. of Revenue).

Kansas residents who have presented acceptable Real ID documentation during a prior office visit from 2011 or later are automatically qualified for a Real ID compliant Kansas Driver's License or Identification Card and do not have to present those documents again. These will have the Real ID compliant symbol printed on their card. Kansas residents who have not presented acceptable Real ID documentation will have the “NOT FOR FEDERAL ID” statement printed on their card. Starting October 2020 you will need a Real ID for airline boarding, entering federal buildings, or entering military bases.  You do not need a Real ID to drive, vote, or verify age.

*Original Deadline was October 2020- Department of Homeland Security pushed back the deadline due to the pandemic

Do you know about the Kansas Scenic Byways? The CVB has brochures describing the scenic byways in Kansas and maps that show the byways and historic trails that run through our state. Did you know the Santa Fe Trail runs through historic Council Grove? This was the last stop for settlers on the trail for supplies before the long trip west. Discover more about this and other information in the Kansas Travel Guide, available at the CVB. More brochures like the official Kansas Outdoors guide are also available at the CVB. Read all about the cycling craze happening in Kansas and the whole country in the guide as well. There’s also an excellent resource guide to help you locate visitor services, hunting, fishing and lodging information, and state parks too.  These annual publications are produced by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism, and are absolutely free!

Need more ideas? Take a stroll downtown and stop in for coffee, cold drinks, chocolate, gourmet cheeses, collectibles, home décor, sporting goods, and some repurposed treasures.
