Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more you volunteer, the more benefits you’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. Giving in even simple ways can help others those in need and improve your health and happiness. ~From Helpguide.org

You Will Be Our Hero!
The Emporia Eastside Community Group was founded in 1998. Originally, the individuals involved sponsored a small Memorial Day celebration with family and friends at the 9th Avenue & East Street Park. The EECG has grown into an organization of highly motivated individuals. The EECG is devoted to the improvement of the community, beginning with the development of our neighborhood.
Those events include; a scholarship program, Memorial Day barbeque, candlelight celebration, and an Easter egg hunt for the neighbor children.
There are many ways you can help, including the following activities:
Serve on the Board of Directors
Help with construction of a home
Be a member of the homeowner selection or family support committee
Donate funds (tax deductible) or building materials
Provide food on workdays
Help with mailings and office work
To connect caring people with causes that build stronger communities within the Emporia area which includes Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Lyon, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties.
